Sadhu
A disciplined soul. Populary used in India to mean a wandering monk.
Sat
True; that whick exists.
Satguru
A guru (teacher) who has attained self-realization / full enlightenment and is revered as the source of grace and liberation. It is said that the grace and guidance of a satguru is a necessity for one to attain personal self-realization. It is estimated there are less than 50 satgurus on the planet at the present time.
Satsang
Contact or association with Truth, either directly (inner) or through the agency of some guru is a full expression of the Truth (outer). Also refers to a congregation presided over by such a guru or his representative.
Sat-Yuga
A Sanskrit word, Sat-Yuga is a Hindu prophecy about the coming of the age of truth or golden age. It is characterized by a time of righteousness and peace.
Seva
Service; a labor of love.
Shakti
Sanskrit for energy - Shakti is the female consort of the Hindu deity Shiva.
Shaman
Also known as a medicine man or witch doctor - the shaman uses 2nd physical powers and "magic" to accomplish his various duties.
Shiva
This is the name of the destroyer deity in the Hindu religious tradition, and one of the three main deities. The other two main deities are Brahma and Vishnu.
Silver cord
The silver cord is connected to a living human being at the base of the coccyx and it runs straight up through the center of the spine and out the top of the head. It continues through the higher realms to the spirit's highest self. During the dying process, the spirit leaves the physical body at which point the silver cord is severed. This is the so-called "point of no return" in that the spirit body is released from being attached to the physical body and physical death is irreversible..
